If you are looking for somewhere to walk your dog in or near Lansdale, PA, there are a number of parks in and around the borough where you and your pet can stroll and play. Let’s check out a list of destinations that you and your dog will love.

1. Montgomery Township Bark Park

1228 Welsh Rd, North Wales, PA 19454

By far the most central place to hang out with your dog is the Montgomery Township Bark Park. You’ll find this one-acre park at the south end of Bell Run Plaza on Welsh Road. If you have trouble finding it, you need to check behind the shopping center.

You can walk your dog on the leash or allow him to run around off-leash. There is a fence around the park so that your pet will stay safe. If you want to take a seat, there are picnic tables where you can relax. Have a smaller dog, and want to keep her away from the larger breeds? There is a sectioned-off area just for small dogs.

Aside from the picnic tables and benches, there are no other amenities, so if you or your pet might get thirsty, bring water with you to the park.

2. Horsham Dog Park

1013 Horsham Rd, Horsham, PA 19044

Take a drive to nearby Horsham, and you can visit the donation-supported Horsham Dog Park. The park is operated by the volunteer organization The Friends of Horsham Dog Park. The mulch in the park is playground mulch, which is safer for your dog than the lower-cost chipped tree mulch which you may find in some other parks.

When you arrive, you’ll notice that there are two large sections to the park, one for large breeds and another for smaller breeds. If you or your pet need water, there are fountains on the grounds, and there are public restrooms available as well. Visiting with kids? A playground is located close by, and there is also a duck pond which you, your kids, and your pets will enjoy.

3. MonDaug Bark Park

1130 Camp Hill Rd, Fort Washington, PA 19034

Travel a little bit south of the Horsham Dog Park, and you will come across MonDaug Bark Park. Like the previous two dog parks we’ve talked about, there are two sections to the park so that large dogs and small dogs do not need to mix. There are benches to sit on, and your dog can run and play off the leash. If you want, you can also go for a walk on a nearby trail.

The only thing to be aware of is that this area can get very muddy when it rains a lot. So, you may want to bring boots for both yourself and your dog, along with a towel.

4. Perkasie Dog Park

620 Constitution Ave, Perkasie, PA 18944

If you are visiting Perkasie, you’ll find a lovely dog park near the Perkasie Square Shopping Center. The park includes restrooms and water, along with benches where you can sit as your dog plays. While your dog needs to be leashed up until you arrive at the gate, afterward, the leash can be removed.

You’ll find that even if you have a larger dog, there is more than enough room to run around and get a lot of exercise. For smaller dogs, there is a separate area. If you are still looking for more exercise and fresh air, walking trails nearby can accommodate you.

The Perkasie Dog Park is another spot that can get to be a little muddy after rain, so pack the boots and towels.

5. Doylestown Dog Park (Members Only)

1260 Almshouse Rd, Warrington, PA 18976

Across from the Bucks County Correctional Facility, you’ll find the members-only Doylestown Dog Park. It offers a section for large dogs measuring an acre and a half, and another half acre section for small dogs. The park maintains a third area as well for turf rotation purposes.

Once you join, you can take advantage of all that the park has to offer after completing an initial education session. Among the amenities on the site are water benches where you can sit, a shaded pavilion where you can get out of the sun, water fountains to stay hydrated, and covered containers for your waste.

You also can rest assured that the orientation requirement means that the other dog owners at the park know the rules and have their pets under control.

Still Looking For More?

These dog parks can be a lot of fun. But if you’re finding them a bit crowded, or you just are looking for a new experience, there are lots of other places you can take your dog (on the leash) in Montgomery County.

For example, you can take a stroll on the Schuylkill River Trail or the Wissahickon Trail. To learn more about these destinations and others for dog walking, see Trails to Walk Your Dog in Montgomery County, PA.

Additionally, there are other recreational parks in the area which welcome dogs, even if they are not specifically dog parks. One example right in Lansdale is the Stony Creek Park located at 200 E Hancock Street.

At this beautiful park, there is a pond with a fountain, benches, a playground, and a trail where you can go walking in the woods. It would be easy to pass an afternoon here with your pet without noticing the hours flying by.

Remember, before heading to any park or trail which is not specifically part of a dog park, look up whether your pet is allowed and what rules you need to follow. Outside fenced-in areas, always keep your pet on a leash.

Conclusion

Whether you visit the Montgomery Township Bark Park, the Perkasie Dog Park, the Doylestown Dog Park, or any other of the area’s parks that encourage dogs, you and your pet can have a grand time strolling, running, playing, and socializing.

Don’t have enough time to take your dog to the park regularly? Consider hiring a professional dog walker in the Lansdale area.
