If you are interested in boarding your dog with us, one of our requirements is that your dog be up-to-date on all important vaccinations.

You might be wondering why we ask that you vaccinate your dog before boarding with us.

There are two key reasons:

• For the health and safety of your dog.

• For the health and safety of the other dogs that we board.

We want you to rest assured that your pet is 100% safe when boarding with us, and that no other dog will transmit an infection to your dog.

Likewise, it is important for us to be able to protect the safety of all other dogs that may be boarding with us at the same time as yours.

We board your dog in our home, and we have a dog too, so we also need to protect our pet’s safety.

With our in-home boarding service, we will be taking care of your pet as we would our own!

We keep our dog up-to-date on all vaccinations, so we need the same from you.

What Vaccines Does My Dog Need for Boarding?

Your dog will need the following vaccines before boarding with us:

Bordatella: Most cases of kennel cough are the result of infection by a bacteria called Bordetella bronchiseptica. Dogs that contract this infection experience respiratory inflammation.

Kennel Cough: While often used interchangeably with “Bordetella,” “kennel cough” actually refers to a range of respiratory illnesses in dogs. Bordetella is one example, but there are other pathogens that can cause kennel cough as well. The scientific name for kennel cough is “canine infectious tracheobronchitis.” Because Bordetella is the most common pathogen involved in kennel cough, usually getting a “kennel cough vaccine” just means getting your dog vaccinated against Bordetella.

Distemper: Like Bordatella, distemper is highly contagious. But whereas kennel cough is not a lethal infection (though it can lead to lethal complications), distemper is. Treating it is very difficult, but the vaccine is highly effective for prevention.

Core vaccines: We ask that you have all core vaccines for your dog before boarding with us. Along with the distemper vaccine, other core vaccines include parvovirus, canine adenovirus I/II, and rabies.

All of your dog’s vaccines must be current in order to board with us. We will need to see your vaccination paperwork, so please bring your documentation with you.

If you do not have an established relationship with a veterinarian in the Perkiomenville area, we can give you recommendations for where you can get these vaccines for your dog.

We Look Forward to Boarding Your Pet

It is hard to spend time away from your pet, and the trust you are placing in us means a great deal to us. We enjoy boarding dogs and look forward to meeting yours. Thank you for vaccinating your dog and doing your part to keep your pet and the others that board with us safe.
